SUMMARY:Building the Beloved Community
DESCRIPTION:Building the Beloved Community: Martin Luther King Jr. had a vision of a global society based on justice\, equity\, love\, and peace\, where all individuals are cared for and have a sense of belonging. It is a community free from poverty\, hunger\, and all forms of discrimination and prejudice\, and is achieved through nonviolent social change and a shared commitment to the common good. Join local story weaver\, Djeli\, in breathing new life into the Beloved Community. The presentation will combine storytelling with community discussion to create the building blocks for the Beloved Community.

SUMMARY:Open District 8 Discussion
DESCRIPTION:Due to inclement weather\, rescheduled to Saturday\, February 28 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM in Room D\, Quiet Reading Room   \nDistrict 8* Meeting Gathering \nAll Brattleboro residents of District 8 * are welcome and invited to meet for this gathering \nSaturday\, February 21st\, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm in the Quiet Reading Room (Room D) on the mezzanine at Brooks Memorial Library. \nThere is so much going on …. \nOn March 3: \n– Town Meeting Day elections (Selectboard\, RTM members\, and other officers and WSESD School Board) – see sample ballots here: https://brattleboro.gov/sample-ballots \n– Should Brattleboro discontinue Representative Town Meeting and\, if so\, replace it with an Australian ballot or Open Town Meeting? \nAnd then\, there is the Town Budget & Human Services funding to be decided at a Town Meeting (if the Australian ballot question passes\, it cannot go into operation until the Legislature gives its approval) \n…. Nell Mayo- Finance Committee-( Selectboard runner for 1-year seat ) \n2. Isaac Evans-Frantz- ( Current Selectboard Member)-runner for 1-year seat ) \n3. David Miner- Human Services Committee \n4. Gemma Seymour – current RTM District 8 Representative \nQuick information and Resources: \nhttps://brattleboro.gov/representative-town-meeting \nhttps://brattleboro.gov/budgets \nhttps://brattleboro.gov/voting-districts
