DESCRIPTION:Join Alex Lacy\, outreach coordinator for WSWMD\, and Stephen Dotson\, sustainability coordinator for the town of Brattleboro\, on Monday\, November 9th from 4:30-6 pm – and on Monday November 16th from 6-7:30 pm:\n\n\nGather round to receive updates and important information about the Brattleboro curbside compost program. Alex Lacy\, outreach coordinator at WSWMD\, and Stephen Dotson\, sustainability coordinator with the town of Brattleboro\, will be present to run down the basics of the service\, explain what changes have been made and why\, and to demonstrate how the town’s cooperation is helping our local economy as well as support farmers and gardeners alike. Municipal composting is a welcome service in a town where not everyone is composting in their backyard\, not to mention in a state that has mandated a ban on food scraps in the landfill. Composting not only avoids pollution of methane into our atmosphere\, it results in a healthy additive to the soil when used as intended. Appropriate use of quality compost has the potential to increase garden yields and help plants to fight off disease. Quality compost comes from quality inputs into the compost. This is a chance to bring your questions and concerns over what is and what is not acceptable in your curbside bin to an open discussion following a brief presentation.

SUMMARY:Puppet Making Workshop!
DESCRIPTION:Looking for something to do while school’s out? Join us on Tuesday\, November 24th from 12:30-2 pm to make your own puppet! We’ll be using a puppet-making technique from Sandglass Theater\, which they call “tape people.” This activity is aimed at children 7+\, but younger children are welcome with supervision. \nRegistration is preferred–sign up at the circulation desk in the children’s room.
