DESCRIPTION:Join Alex Lacy\, outreach coordinator for WSWMD\, and Stephen Dotson\, sustainability coordinator for the town of Brattleboro\, on Monday\, November 9th from 4:30-6 pm – and on Monday November 16th from 6-7:30 pm:\n\n\nGather round to receive updates and important information about the Brattleboro curbside compost program. Alex Lacy\, outreach coordinator at WSWMD\, and Stephen Dotson\, sustainability coordinator with the town of Brattleboro\, will be present to run down the basics of the service\, explain what changes have been made and why\, and to demonstrate how the town’s cooperation is helping our local economy as well as support farmers and gardeners alike. Municipal composting is a welcome service in a town where not everyone is composting in their backyard\, not to mention in a state that has mandated a ban on food scraps in the landfill. Composting not only avoids pollution of methane into our atmosphere\, it results in a healthy additive to the soil when used as intended. Appropriate use of quality compost has the potential to increase garden yields and help plants to fight off disease. Quality compost comes from quality inputs into the compost. This is a chance to bring your questions and concerns over what is and what is not acceptable in your curbside bin to an open discussion following a brief presentation.

These will take place at the Brooks Memorial Library Community Meeting Room on Friday\, Friday Nov. 20 from 3-5 P.M.\, Monday Nov. 30\, 3-5 P.M. and Friday Dec. 11\, 2-4 P.M. \nWe’ll have information about the 2027 changes to Medicaid\, who they affect\, and how to stay on or apply for Medicaid. There will also be information about a program to help Medicare recipients afford premiums and co-pays\, the SNAP work requirements and exemptions\, and assistance with the cost of home heating. \nWorkers’ Center members can assist with the application or appeals process and can refer people to resources related to their specific needs. \nBrooks Memorial Library is located at 224 Main Street\, Brattleboro. DESCRIPTION:The Vermont Workers’ Center is hosting drop-in hours to help people understand and navigate Medicaid\, Medicare and SNAP (3Squares VT)\, and the rights of people on or applying for these programs. These will take place at the Brooks Memorial Library Community Meeting Room on Friday\, Friday Nov. 20 from 3-5 P.M.\, Monday Nov. 30\, 3-5 P.M. and Friday Dec. 11\, 2-4 P.M. \nWe’ll have information about the 2027 changes to Medicaid\, who they affect\, and how to stay on or apply for Medicaid. There will also be information about a program to help Medicare recipients afford premiums and co-pays\, the SNAP work requirements and exemptions\, and assistance with the cost of home heating. \nWorkers’ Center members can assist with the application or appeals process and can refer people to resources related to their specific needs. \nBrooks Memorial Library is located at 224 Main Street\, Brattleboro. The Community Meeting Room is on the second floor and is handicap accessible. \nFor more information\, email windham@workerscenter.org or call (802) 257-4436.
