This informational talk is served with a side of enthusiasm and encouragement. \n____________ \nPresenter Bio: Jocelyn Demuth is the owner of Checkerspot Farm\, a native plant nursery in Colrain MA (10 minutes from the Vermont Border.)  The nursery grows 160 species of native plants from seed for sale.  She is a speaker for Franklin County Conservation as well as a native plant consultant and landscaper.  She is also the author of the Five Hundred Yard Field Trip\, curriculum about native plants for students in grades k-8. This curriculum is available for free on the website www.fivehundredyardfieldtrip.com and has been funded by a grant from the MA Dept of Agriculture.

Her conviction and subsequent imprisonment set her on a path of revenge\, determined to take down the evil empire that wronged her\, all while the fate of her people hangs in the balance. \nPlease note that this SFRG will be meeting on the second Monday of the month! SUMMARY:Birds Are Dinosaurs -- Meet Live Birds of Prey with VINS!
DESCRIPTION:What did 65 million years of evolution turn the dinosaurs into? Birds! \nCelebrating “Unearth a Story\,” the Vermont Institute of Natural Science is excited to introduce you to some live birds of prey and learn all about their dinosaur ancestry together. We’ll explore the ways modern birds became masters of the air\, and understand the immense timescale over which these dinosaur-descendants adapted! \nFree and open to all ages. No registration is required. This event is part of the Brooks Memorial Library’s “Unearth A Story” Adult Summer Reading program. \nThis event is sponsored by the Friends of Brooks Memorial Library. \n \n  \nVermont Institute of Natural Science \nFounded in 1972\, the Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS) is a nonprofit environmental education organization based in Quechee\, Vermont. VINS’ mission is to motivate individuals and communities to care for the environment through education\, research and avian wildlife rehabilitation. VINS Animal Outreaches deliver place-based education programs\, combining environmental science concepts with hands-on exploration to build empathy and empower individuals to care for local natural ecosystems. \n \n
