E-Books, Audio, and Video
Free any time with your library card
The library offers two apps–Palace and Libby–and two major categories of digital materials: downloadable books (audio/e-books) and streaming video. The collections overlap, but each app has unique titles and features. The links and notes below will help you get started, and library staff members are happy to help any time.
E-Books and Audiobooks
Free to Brooks Memorial Library cardholders via the Green Mountain Library Consortium
Libby, by Overdrive
Check out titles directly on the Libby app, OR through the Brooks Memorial Library catalog.
Works on
smart phones, tablets, computers, and Kindles
Features
Libby is linked to several video services–Kanopy, The Great Courses, and Qello–which are described in more detail on this page.
Tips for setting up Libby
Select Yes when asked if you have a library card.
Search for Brooks Memorial Library and choose the Green Mountain Library Consortium (GMLC)
When prompted for your library card and password, use the same password/PIN that you use for your Brooks Memorial Library account, usually the last four digits of your phone number.
Free to all Vermont library cardholders from the VT Department of Libraries
The Palace Project
Check out titles directly on the Palace app (currently, Palace titles are not included in the library’s general catalog).
Works on
smart phones and tablets (not on computers or Kindles)
Features
Palace also includes all of the e-book/audio content on Libby, so if you like the Palace app, it’s a convenient single stop.
The project developed to give libraries more control over their content, and we expect it to keep getting better.
Tips for setting up Palace
Tap Settings > Libraries and search for Brooks Memorial.
When prompted for your library card and password, use the same password/PIN that you use for your Brooks Memorial Library account, usually the last four digits of your phone number.
