Friends of the Library
Join the circle of support
Mission
The Friends of Brooks Memorial Library support the library in providing the highest quality library service through advocacy, public relations, and fundraising.
Annual Appeal
The Friends and the Library Board of Trustees collaborate each year on the Annual Appeal, which funds valuable services, programs and equipment beyond the library’s regular operating budget.
Book Sales
The Annual Friends of Brooks Memorial Library Book Sale will begin in November/December 2026.
The Friends are grateful for the wonderful donations to this year’s sale. Donations are no longer being accepted at this time. Donations will be accepted in the fall.
Other options for donating used books
Here are some organizations in our community that accept used books. Please be aware that they have their own criteria for selection, and it’s unlikely that a single place will be able to accept all of your books. And bear in mind what librarians know: though books are one of the great treasures of our civilization, it’s OK to recycle your tattered or outdated books to make room for new publications on your shelves!
- Swap Shop at WSWMD is open Saturdays, April-November
- Winham Solid Waste Management District has several options for book recycling/re-use/disposal throughout the year
- Experienced Goods benefits Brattleboro Area Hospice
- Vermont Antiquarian Book Sellers curate selective collections for browsing and resale
