Through a competitive grant administered by the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Vermont Department of Libraries, Brooks Memorial was awarded $1.4 million for capital improvements to increase access and address necessary upgrades. The project will expand the usable space along the exterior of the building, update the ADA approaches to meet current standards, address safety issues, and install a security door for approved group use of the Community Meeting Room beyond open hours.
To enable work on the first phase, the back entrance, which connects to the Municipal Center parking lot, will be closed to the public through early July. Library patrons should plan to use the front entrance along Main Street. These long-overdue improvements will expand access to our library so that all can benefit to the greatest extent possible.
Top floor is open again
Thanks for your patience with the recent 2-day closure of the top floor for safety during construction. Top floor activities and spaces are open again, including full access to the Children’s Room and the Spicy Lime teen room.
There might be other closures of the top floor throughout this phase of construction (through early July). We will post further closure alerts here and link them from the front page of the website.
