Three steps to resources throughout Vermont and beyond
- Library card number is the 14-digit number on your card, no spaces
- PIN/Password is usually the last 4 digits of your phone number. If that doesn’t work, contact us and we’ll help you reset your PIN.
2. Explore the Catamount Library Network.
You can borrow items from Brooks Memorial and 20+ library partners through Catamount, which uses a fast, sustainable courier service. Try a search! Then follow these steps:
Check location tabs in your search results.
They look like this:
Brooks Memorial Library = We own it.
All Libraries = We can get it through the courier*
*With one exception: newly-published items. Please suggest a purchase for new titles, and we’ll place a hold for you if/when we add them.
Click the 'Place Hold' button.
This is the same whether the item is at Brooks Memorial or another library:
Wait for word that your item has arrived.
You’ll receive an email when your item is waiting for you–or if you have opted for phone messages, we’ll give you a call. We pull materials from our own collection several times per day and receive courier deliveries several times per week.
3. If it isn't in Catamount, let us try Clover.
The Vermont Clover Network fill requests for items that aren’t in Catamount. Library staff will request for you throughout Vermont and beyond.*
*With one exception: newly-published items. Please suggest a purchase for new titles, and we’ll place a hold for you if/when we add them.
Fill out the request form.
- Click the light-blue button at the bottom of your catalog search
or go directly to our ILL page to find the form. - You can also fill out a paper form at the Circulation desk or Help desk at the library.
Wait for word that your item has arrived.
Most ILLs arrive in about two weeks, but some take longer. When we receive the item, we check it in, and you’ll receive word by email or phone that it’s ready for pickup.
Interlibrary loan is free.
Sharing resources among libraries is an essential part of our basic service. The library plans and budgets for staffing and courier delivery to help us meet the needs of our library community.
Some libraries outside Vermont ask fees for rare items, but we never accept a fee without your permission.
