Mission
In keeping with the library’s mission to connect people and resources to inspire, inform, and empower our diverse community, the ABC Directory will enable searchers to discover our greatest resource: each other. ABC will provide information on formal and informal organizations that help community members meet their basic needs, connect with supportive peers, increase their quality of life, and promote a sustainable, thriving community.
Scope
In general, ABC is focused on free and low-cost services and activities. It includes nonprofits, public-private partnerships, and other groups, both formal and informal, that serve the Brattleboro community.
Organizations, groups, and projects qualify if they directly serve the community of Brattleboro, whether or not they are headquartered in town. The ABC Directory will include area, state, and regional organizations that have local points of service.
The ABC Directory is not a platform for posting events or opinions, and it is not a social media tool. Its purpose is to help community members and visitors find services and interest groups in the Brattleboro area.
Collaboration
The Library celebrates the variety of organizations, groups, and projects at work and play in Brattleboro. We encourage organizations to include lots of descriptive words in their ABC Directory listings. We want ABC to reflect the real-world interests, values, and self-descriptions of all members of our community.
Oversight
The Library manages the ABC Directory and will communicate with organizations as needed to ensure that entries are as clear and accurate as possible. The library has final discretion over what is included in the Directory.
