Workshop III: Walnut Ink Still Life with Vermont Stones — Saturday, August 15 – REGISTER ONLINE

In this meditative workshop, create your own cairn, or stone stack temporary sculpture, with local Vermont stones. River Gallery School Teaching Artist, Kate Milliken, will guide participants in creating still life paintings of their individual stone stacks with natural walnut ink. Walnut Ink is made from walnut husks and dries in a rich, brown sepia tone and is great for experimenting with layering.

Join us for a series of three nature-inspired classes designed for adults and youth ages 12 and up. These hour-and-a-half workshops will focus on the use of natural materials and the skill of close observation, a vital gift of drawing from life, which connects the visual arts with the sciences. Throughout these workshops, the emphasis is on learning how to see the natural world through a new lens. Drawing from observation and using local materials will foster a deeper connection between art and science while contributing to the understanding of our local environment.

Participants are welcome to attend one or all workshops, and all sessions are free.
