Interaction’s Prison Quilt Project

Monday, August 10 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Fractured, Not Broken, is a collaborative quilt project connecting people inside and outside prison walls.

We invite you to join in the hand-stitching of Interaction’s Prison Quilt in the Main Reading Room from 5-7 PM on Monday, August 10th — poignantly on International Prisoners’ Justice Day.

This project had an initial goal to provide a space for incarcerated Vermonters to reflect on and share their experience of incarceration, while also tapping into the healing and transformational power of telling their stories through art. As the project developed, it became important to expand the project to include the hands of the community that will welcome home these incarcerated individuals.

The incarcerated quilters are JA, DC, DF, QG, FN, JO, and TR. The completed quilt will hang in the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center in September – October 2026.  All are welcome to visit the library to add your own stitch before it is celebrated at the museum. For more information, visit interactionvt.org/quilt/.

The quilt is presented by Interaction with funding from the Vermont Prison Research Innovation Network (PRIN) and the Vermont Arts Council.
