Building Our Welcoming Skills with Literature

Brattleboro native Kirsten Cappy and Maine librarian Kate Cutko will share how the Welcoming Library, a picture book collection now housed at Brooks Memorial Library, can change the conversation on immigration and create an environment of welcoming and belonging through the sharing of stories. Using the picture book The Suitcase, Cappy and Cutko will show how these books break down intergroup anxiety and foster a welcoming environment.
