How to place your request
- Remember to start with the Catamount Library Network. If your item is in the CLN, that’s the quickest and easiest way to borrow it.
If your item is not in the CLN, your next step is to request it using an ILL form. You can fill out an online form or a paper form at the library–whichever is most convenient.
How we search and obtain your item
- When we receive your ILL request, our ILL Specialist searches and requests it in a system called CLOVER: Collaborative Libraries of Vermont.
- If your item isn’t in CLOVER, our Specialist will request a loan from beyond Vermont.
- Most ILLs arrive in about two weeks, but some take longer.
If you included an email address in your patron record, you’ll hear from us by email when your item arrives. Otherwise, we’ll call you.
Another useful tool
- Worldcat is a good place to look for titles that you might want to request on ILL. Not all items in Worldcat are available through ILL, and we don’t have authority to choose specific suppliers beyond Vermont, but it’s a great resource for building a reading or research list. We work hard to obtain ILLs to meet your needs and interests.
