Current news and searchable archive of articles from Brattleboro’s daily newspaper, which began as the Windham County Reformer in 1876 and is currently published by Vermont News and Media LLC, whose mission is to “create hyper-local news about the communities we serve and attract both local and out-of-town readers.”

The Commons covers the Windham County area with weekly print and online editions. It is published by Vermont Independent Media, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit “founded on the belief that independent journalism is critical for the functioning of democracy and is the lifeblood of our community.” VIM states a commitment to “fair, balanced, and accurate journalism” and “an open forum for diverse voices within its community.”
The Commons is free, supported by readers through tax-deductible donations, through advertising support, and through the support of charitable foundations.

Al-Jezeera is “an independent news organisation funded in part by the Qatari government.” It was founded in 1996 with the stated mission to provide “a broad and deep perspective on regional and international affairs, putting the human being directly at the centre of the news agenda.”
